CAN-DO 7-17

EXCLUSIVELY FOR ABLE BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF DISABLED CHILDREN.

We have, got together with Cornwall Council and the Children, Schools and Families team and Bernados to provide supportive and inspiring respite activities

The activities are designed to be safe fun, supportive and understanding and encouraging for those siblings who are used to 'have to wait' and to be 'patient' and 'understanding' due to their disabled brother or sister.

We understand that these boys and girls have a great wealth of experience, maturity and love, but that their day to day life is often ruled by the needs of others, and that they have to make more adjustments and compromises than other children at their age due to their family set up.

Therefore we want to bring groups of these siblings together, to enjoy fun activities, stretch their imagination, build confidence and pride, and share their experiences confidentially.

After a most successful pilot year we have now secured funding to run our popular Saturdays both in Liskeard (4th Saturday) and Grampound (3rd Saturday) between September '10 and April '11. Sign up, Places are going fast, late-comers are welcome.

This work is fully funded by the Council and free for participants.
